Welcome to this edition of the FIABCI electronic newsletter. FIABCI is leading the globalization of real estate markets according to the United Nations principles and guidance which is supported by our Federation (English, Russian, Chinese), to minimize the effects of the global crisis. A more efficient real estate market can be the driving force for both a country's economy and real estate private sector.

The following is an update of recent FIABCI global activities which have taken place and/or have been scheduled: 

  • International Real Estate Federation, FIABCI, Launches Global Consultation on Real Estate Reform.   Here you will find information about FIABCI's first international webinar.  This ground-breaking event was convened to help define the Federation's strategy in enabling real estate markets around the world to overcome the effects of the recent economic crisis while adopting long term measures to avoid a recurrence.   • On July 19, during the FIABCI Board meeting in Milan, we approved the opportunity to try enlarge the role of our organization and improve the image of the RE private sector.
  • On October 14-15,  the re-organization of the representation of all real estate activities worldwide will be included within the agenda at the next Board meeting in Dublin. It will offer all our members, and especially our Principal members, a very relevant role.
  • During September (within the first fifteen days) web conferences will be scheduled involving all our Committees to optimize a common programme.
  • In the second fifteen days, we will schedule web seminars involving all members that wish to contribute with proposals and ideas. Time and dates will be sent by email to the members before the end of August.
  • On December 2-3-4, please do not miss the FIABCI Business Meetings in Brussels (click here): Highlights of the FIABCI Business Meetings will include:
    • A presentation of a format to help Chapters in presenting to their governments consideration of the UN principles, using the Ukraine pilot experiment as a foundation for these efforts.  We anticipate the participation of UN officers to provide the best input and ensure the best results.     • Review of the criteria for real estate market analysis, to have them comparable and easy to update
    • A clear explanation of the tools and the new technologies FIABCI offers to members
    • Many great highlights and tours including a possible visit to the European Parliament, education, social events and much more!

  • Susan Newman, FIABCI USA's Secretary General,  was appointed as Interim FIABCI Secretary General.  In addition to serving as our Interim Secretary General, Susan has served (and continues to serve) as FIABCI-USA Secretary General , a position which she has held for more than 20 years.  Susan will be utilizing her extensive FIABCI expertise to continue to support FIABCI and lead us into the future (click here)

  • If you haven't already done so, please check our new FIABCI website.  To give members the best of both worlds, www.fiabci.org is now comprised of the previous website with its broadcast email, document libraries, and Chapter access, as well as the social networking site unveiled in March.  From the front page, click on "Click here for the FIABCI Member Community" to go to the social networking site.  To find out more (click here)

On a very sad note, we lost a dedicated member of the FIABCI family, Jutta Windbacher.  Jutta was a loyal member of the FIABCI family for many years.  She will be dearly missed at FIABCI headquarters in Paris.  We extend our condolences throughout the world to her family and friends during this difficult time (click here).
