FIABCI Business Meetings Brussels Gala Celebration
The Belgium Chapter of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) hosted our International Business Meetings from December 3-5, 2009 at the Metropole Hotel in Brussels, Belgium. It was a historic occasion as FIABCI celebrated its 60th Anniversary with Gala Celebration Dinner in which FIABCI professionals had a chance to meet with the Belgian Minister of State Herman De Croo and his wife as well as the US Ambassador Howard Gutman (nominated by President Barack Obama) and his wife. During the celebration, Pier Zijlstra was acknowledged for celebration his 50th Year as a FIABCI member. The evening concluded with a 60 year birthday cake created especially for the Gala Celebration in honor of FIABCI.
The Business Meetings were a phenomenal success and demonstrated the strength and unity of this great global organization. The theme was “Technology: Driving the Future of FIABCI” focused heavily on FIABCI’s new social media technologies and platform which enable FIABCI members to network and transact business on a global basis. FIABCI’s new technology is available as a benefit to the FIABCI membership, enabling international business to be transacted seamlessly. Some of technological highlights include:
- Member to member networking platform which includes the ability to market available properties and projects in 11 languages to members throughout the world.
- New online education courses and training opportunities through FIABCI University delivered by FIABCI’s world esteemed Faculty

The Belgium Chapter, in cooperation with FIABCI’s Leadership, prepared a world-class professional program including conferences, marketing sessions and fantastic study tours of the Belgium countryside in which the following was accomplished:
- FIABCI Board Adopted Rules of Order which it never before had
- Grievance Working Group was established to develop a process for violations and complaints for unethical behavior within the FIABCI organization in order to maintain the tradition of FIABCI’s high standards of business conduct. Member of this committee include:
- Regional Presidents - Pingki Pangestu, Jean Pierre Weyermann, Dean LaPointe, Osita Okoli
- Principal Members Council President - Pierre Beauchamp
- Chair - Dinos Michaelides
- Statutes Working Group was created (inspired by Past World President Jean Claude Amselle) to ensure that the FIABCI Statues are up-to-date, relevant and effective and serve FIABCI in the best manner possible. Members of this committee are:
- FIABCI Member Attorney's from 3 regions- Chris Tan, Antonio Campagnoli and Flavio Gonzaga Nunes
- Chairman is Board MemberYves Boussard
- Board Member Eddie Barrett
- Enrico Campagnoli was elected to the position of FIABCI World President Elect 2010-2011
