Rodobens awarded Prix d’Excellence certificate and trophy

On July 7, FIABCI Brazil held a lunch meeting in São Paulo in partnership with its principal member, Secovi-SP, to present its business mission visit to China and Japan last May and the delegation’s meeting with Brazilian president Lula da Silva in Beijing. This was another initiative undertaken by FIABCI’s Brazilian chapter in its continuing efforts to propel Brazil into global real estate modernity.

Videos and pictures along with testimonials from Brazilian real estate leaders and entrepreneurs on the mission were shown, as well as highlights of the trip such as the new technologies that were introduced to the delegation in Asia and the lessons learned from the mission.

The presentations and discussions held during the lunch included the participation of Ricardo Yazbek and Basilio Jafet, respectively president and director of FIABCI Brazil; João Crestana, Secovi-SP president; José Roberto Bernasconi, president of the Brazilian Syndicate of Architecture and Engineering Companies; Pedro Grunaüer Kassab, director of São Paulo Trade Association and member of the Secovi-SP New Entrepreneurs Group. Also present at the event were FIABCI Brazil’s President Elect, Sérgio Tavares Ferrador, and the former FIABCI Brazil president, Romeu Chap Chap, currently Chairman of the Secovi-SP Advisory Board.

According to Ricardo Yazbek, several observations can be made from the mission. One of them is that in order to keep up with the rapid pace of global modernization, Asian countries like China are constructing mega multi-use buildings with a very high utilization rate of the land area (up to 20 times) mainly in heavily populated urban areas strongly supported with infrastructure. “The path followed by Asia not only offers huge cost savings but is less environmentally invasive. Green, sustainable buildings that serve as home, workplace and shopping centers mean less noise, visual and air pollution, besides producing less waste and environmental impact at all levels,” stressed Yazbek.

Another important conclusion made by the delegation is that Asia today is the gateway to modernization and is perceived as the avant-garde of globalization. Yazbek stated that those who don’t keep up with what’s going on in the Asian world today in terms of production will certainly lag behind in their development.  “Suffice to remember that China is already the biggest buyer of Brazilian goods. In this respect, President Lula and his team did a great job in their visit by opening up doors and forging partnerships between China and Brazil,” added Yazbek.

While in Asia, FIABCI Brazil’s delegates visited large scale real estate developments and companies based in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai, China, and in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan. One of them, the Shanghai World Financial Center, is the third tallest building in the world boasting 116 lifts and built entirely on Japanese capital. The Brazilian delegation was also welcomed by the US company, Hines, and by the Brazilian Embassy at Beijing, where it joined president Lula da Silva’s mission to China.

A highlight of the lunch meeting was the awarding of the "Prix d'Excellence" certificate and trophy to the Brazilian developer Rodobens, for winning second place in the Master Plan category of the renowned Prix d’Excellence international real estate award. Rodobens was awarded for its Terra Nova Garden Village condominium in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo State. Eduardo Gorayeb,  Rodobens Negócios Imobiliários’ CEO received the award from the hands of Ricardo Yazbek, who addressed the lunch attendees on behalf of FIABCI Brazil and World FIABCI.

And last but not least, on September 23 FIABCI Brazil and Secovi-SP will be hosting the 2009 Master Real Estate Award, which opens the São Paulo Real Estate Week.     Special guests include the current FIABCI World President, Lisa Kurass, and Dean Lapointe, Regional President for the Americas.

Terra Nova condominium built by Rodobens is awarded the 2009 Prix d’Excellence

One of the largest real estate developers in Brazil, Rodobens Negócios Imobiliários is listed on the New Market of the São Paulo Stock Exchange and was a highlight of this year’s "Prix d'Excellence", the most important real estate award worldwide granted yearly by the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI).

Rodobens won second place in the Master Plan category for its residential condominium development Terra Nova Garden Village in the São Paulo State city of São José do Rio Preto. The company won the 2008 Master Real Estate Award with the same development in the Residential category.

The Terra Nova condominium consists of houses and apartment buildings offering residents a complete infrastructure with security, leisure facilities and landscape design typical of prime developments aimed at the higher end of the market. The condominium properties are geared to families on a monthly income not exceeding US$800,00 and delivery is in up to 12 months. The Terra Nova condominium concept has been successfully launched across several Brazilian states totaling 28 developments built in 22 cities.

Rodobens Negócios Imobiliários’ CEO, Eduardo Gorayeb, says that their recognition through the "Prix d'Excellence" award further reinforces the company’s concern to seek state-of-the-art solutions for developing quality products for different economic sectors.

If you’ve come to our national meeting before, you’ll notice that we’ve revised our schedule so that all of the prime networking and business events are on Saturday, September 12. Even if you can’t spend the full time with us, you can still get maximum benefit.

Additional networking and practical information sharing have been built into the meeting schedule, while still allowing plenty of time for our popular Networking Lunch & Marketing Session. Each FIABCI member registrant will have the opportunity to present his/her properties or expertise.

In addition to the Marketing Lunch on September 12, two informative education sessions are planned. During the first session - Putting the EB-5 and E2 Visa Programs to Work for Your Foreign Investors - you’ll learn how to use the EB-5 and E2 visa programs to bring investors here to the USA. The second session – Ask the Expert Roundtables – will give you the opportunity to learn from fellow members and to share your ideas, challenges, and solutions. Topics include: Marketing Show & Tell; How to Use New Technologies to Increase Business & Reduce Stress; Luxury Property Forum; Putting Together a Limited Partnership; and Becoming an Owner Instead of a Broker.

To make the most of your participation, be sure to arrive in time for our private tour and reception at Spire on Friday evening, September 11. As Bill Wiggins of Denver will tell you, one of the most exciting things about the Spire condominiums is that they are well priced for those looking for a primary or secondary residence in Denver; the condominiums range in price from $200,000 to $1.2 million. Spire and the developer, the Nichols Partnership, are also very proud that the project is one of the largest LEED certified developments in the country. During the evening, we’ll tour models, see the amenities floor, check out the finishes they’re using, and enjoy food, drink, and fabulous views from the SkyClub on the 42nd floor of Spire. http://spiredenver.com/

Plan to attend the FIABCI Scholarship Foundation Dinner & Auction on September 12. You’ll enjoy the Ritz Carlton’s delicious cuisine and attentive service. And we know you’ll have fun at the auction, which benefits the Scholarship Foundation. The Foundation awards grants and scholarships to help further the study of international real estate and business, so you’ll be “doing good” while having a good time!
