AUSTRALIA
President of FIABCI South East Asia Dato' Alan Tong met with FIABCI Australia President Robyn Waters, REIT President Peter Bushby, REIA Vice President Chris McGregor and REIT CEO Martin Harris in Hobart yesterday to discuss how FIABCI can become more relevant and of practical benefit to industry members in Australia. While some members have until now utilised FIABCI membership to achieve an overseas trip that has been an effective tax deduction from their business, the organisation has the potential to offer a lot more. This could be achieved via specialist chapters for agents, principals and institute leaders. One forum that would be of interest to many agents in Australia is how it all works with cross border buying and selling real estate - not just states and territories but by country to country. South East Asia has more relevance in the current climate than the U.S and Europe, and the more we all know, the bigger the business potential.
