Christopher Hall PPNAEA; REALTOR®; TRC; Cert PFS Dear FIABCI Colleagues, I am delighted to correspond with you in this new role. In addition to being Vice President of the Networking & Marketing Committee, it is obviously an honour to be chosen to serve the membership in this way. My aim will be to bring “Effective Networking and Referral Making” to the forefront of our membership benefits. That said, I guess I asked for it though with my reputation in NAR circles as the Networking Nut and now in FIABCI as the Rampant Referee. It’s a subject close to my heart as networking and making referrals have played not only a large part of each day throughout my life, but have and do generate income, where the sky’s the limit. It all adds to my bottom line. Of all the benefits that being a FIABCI member brings, I rate Networking as the most important. There is however much work to be done in making this benefit a reality for all our members and to make our system a forerunner in this electronic age. Firstly, I greatly value the Social Networking the FIABCI family creates for us all – I appreciate this doesn’t come easy for everybody so my first task will be to find ways to make it easier for all to enjoy. FIABCI has in the past, and will do so in the future, set up Networking Sessions so I will be looking to move this forward into B-2-B Networking. FIABCI is a Business Club so our members expect to capitalise on opportunities, especially in the current economic climate. Once we have firmly established we are here to do business with our product and once we understand what other members of our family have to offer, we need to make the referral where we should rightfully be remunerated. I have not experienced a mechanism in place outside our Directory to do or encourage this. In this day and age, I believe we have to be assertive and act quickly and efficiently to be effective. FIABCI has to play a greater part in making this happen for you as a member. I will refrain from entering into my prospective initiatives at this point but watch for the encouragement and help that will be available. To begin, you will receive a simple survey in my first attempt to obtain your involvement. The business opportunities that FIABCI present are quite extraordinary as our membership is unique, comprised of multi-disciplined professionals all related to the property industry. The cross business possibilities are endless. Let us plan to make referrals daily. Once done, our bank balances should look after themselves. The thought I leave you with is the following: one of my referrals paid for my FIABCI membership for more than a lifetime. Now, everything else, is icing on the cake! The FIABCI family is awesome and for some reason it seems to me to be the property industries best kept secret. If I have my way, that will not be the case for much longer as we will be “shouting about our successes” – that should lead to an increase in membership which in turn will present our membership with even more opportunities.
