YOUNG MEMBERS
Chris Tan Dear Fellow FIABCI Members, This is a follow up from an email report that I have sent to the all the FIABCI Young Members of the world in July 2009. You can still read about it on the FIABCI official website (as it was also incorporated as part of the FIABCI e-newsletter sent out to all the members earlier) of which I have set out my vision for the Young Members and have also conducted a demographic analysis on the entire FIABCI Young Membership at that material time. I welcome your feedbacks to that report and most important of all to get me in contact with young members who are interested to serve the Federation by getting the young members up and running locally. I would like to record my appreciation for the FIABCI leadership for this official platform to enable my direct communication with all the FIABCI Members and allow the activities of young members to get its rightful attention. The Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat Summit in Makassar, Indonesia 28th to 29th October 2009 This is special appeal to the young members in the Asia Pacific Region. I am coordinating a special young members meeting at the same time there and really hope that young members in the region can make an effort to join me in this exotic location. There are low cost carriers flying into this venue which make travel more affordable. Email me if you want more details! Online Social Medias Networking These platforms today offer essential communication especially and shall be incorporated as the communication strategy for the young members. I have therefore entrusted our Official Coordinators 1. Tobias Kruisselbrink (Italy) 2. Hristo Nestorov (Bulgaria) is in charge of our LinkedIn activities. You can add him at http://www.linkedin.com/in/hristonestorov and ask him about the FIABCI Young Members LinkedIn Group. (You can of course link me at http://www.linkedin.com/in/chrischur ; or add me at FaceBook at http://www.facebook.com/chris.tan76 ) The Signature Young Members Ski-Trip I am happy to note that there are two (2) proposals for our signature Young Members Ski-Trip that has been an effective networking event for young members to have fun and enhance important business contacts. Michel and Oliver are both working the proposal from Andorra and Bansko, Bulgaria and hope to announce more details soon. You better starts polishing up your skiing gears! Young Members Business Meeting Our Immediate Past President Antonio (antonio.campagnoli@ilpunto.re.eu) was telling me how he wishes that the Young Members Committee can soon replicating the success of the FIABCI Young Members Conference in Milan, Italy September 2007. I have gotten some first hand advise from him and I am getting my special task force (explained below) to work on it. Regional Conference Calls I have the privilege in joining some of the Conference Calls initiated by Lisa, our World President. I personally find it useful and am in fact replicating the same with the young members. Having heard from the leaders of the Americas and Europe, it gave me some ideas on how the Chapters around the world are functioning and what are the expectations on their respective young members. As you are reading this, I am in fact reaching out to all the Chapter Presidents to get young members going as part of their agenda. Young Members Conference Calls Learning from Lisa, I have in fact started my very own conference calls in the last few days. It is the most direct and cost effective way to stay in touch. I had two (2) sessions so far with Europe and America respectively. I have learned a great deal from the sharing. Let me know if you wish to join the next session! Feedbacks from my last email to the Young Members of the World (here are the selections!) Daniel Vermeulen (Holland) (daniel@ogonline.nl) – Thank you for your support to www.fiabciyouth.com as an online platform for all the young members and being the first to respond to my last email! Doireann Barrett (Ireland) (doireann@northsreal.ie) – Thank you for offering the help of the Irish Chapter and nice to note that Neil Corkery (neil.corkery@valoff.ie) is doing a great job in leading the young members in Ireland. Emanuel Mark (Nigeria) (mark@nuelmark.com) – Too happy to know that Young Members are represented in Africa after many years! Put yourself forward for the election in the upcoming General Assembly in Dubai! Guilherme de Lucca (guilherme@predialdelucca.com.br) and Robert William (willy.spain@gamil.com) (Brasil) – Finally, we have the Samba Boys in the house! Thank you for making the first contact! Hristo Nestorov (Bulgaria) (hristo@realmconsult.com) – You are spot on that we need a more cohesive community in FIABCI Young Members. Irena Perfanova (Bulgaria) (aiic@mail.bg) – Great suggestion for FIABCI University to run concurrently with Young Members event like the Ski Trip. Perhaps, Michel can work on that! Shabbir Hussain (Pakistan) (wapda_town@yahoo.com) – Thank you for offering your services to the young members! Subhir Shah (India) (subhir@goldenhomeland.com) – Thankyou for reminding (all the way from India) the importance in not to duplicate the existing effort of FIABCI but to compliment it as young members. You have also mentioned that young members shall meet in smaller groups often to ensure effective networking and information sharing. Tobias Kruisselbrink (Italy) (tobiaskruisselbrink@hotmail.com) – You have suggested a common useful tool in having a standard presentation slides or promotional materials designed just for potential young members. My task force (described below) is working on it and shall post it on www.fiabciyouth.com for everyone to use once it is ready. Special Young Members Presidential Taskforce One of the key tasks for me is to get the young mmbers up and running in the Asia Pacific region. I have therefore set up this special taskforce with Young Members in Malaysia to: set up an active FIABCI Young Members structure in Malaysia and to share our experience with the rest of the world through the www.fiabciyouth.com (the idea is to create ready to use tools to kick start any form of Young Members’ activities); and brain-storm on strategies as well as execute my tasks as the President of the Young Members Committee particularly with the regional focus that I have adopted. The taskforce members just met for the fourth time just now and are currently comprises: Mr Chai (chaiyitshang@kenanga.com.my) - Events Mr Eddie Tan (eddie@homefinder.com) – Membership and Engagement Ms Ewa Radziszewska (ewa@pdmdesign.com) – Yes, you guessed so. She is a “Malaysianised” Polish beauty that has just joined us today and yet to decide her portfolio. Mr Ivan Tan (ivan@homefinder.com) – Content Development Mr Oui (choui83@yahoo.com) – Student Members & Exchange You will read more about them soon at www.fiabciyouth.com I want to personally thank them here for their voluntary effort and the great suggestions on what’s coming. One of the key ideas that generated from this task force is the recognition that young members have limited resources and are mostly at the building stage of their career. Therefore in planning the activities, it is important not to reinvent the wheel but to tab on the existing resources or do more of what is already proven effective. Until next time, maximize your FIABCI Experience! |
